We’ve been trying out a bit of the ME3 multiplayer. It would go a lot more smoothly if we had a 4th, but alas, almost everyone we know plays via xbox.

I pulled the Koo onto my chest, and she flopped over and made herself comfortable. But the really remarkable thing about this picture is that she’s looking directly at the camera. I usually can’t pay her to do that.

Aeris LOVES her scratchy pad, and she LOVES hair bands.

So, in her own way, it makes sense that she’d put the two together.

Pizza lasagna … yummmmm.

I saw this pattern for a cupcake hat and thought it was really cute. So I decided to try it, and for some reason, it didn’t take me very long. I didn’t do it perfectly to pattern, but I’m happy with the results. A friend of mine has a daughter who is turning 6 in a few weeks. I’ll probably pass it along to her.

Please excuse the fact that I’m using a paper towel holder for a head model. It makes everything kind of lumpy.

But the hat looks cute. So cute.

Another day, another “taken in my kitchen” picture, because when I had to charge my camera battery, I left the camera on the microwave. So logically, instead of bringing the camera back to my desk, I’ve been taking items to the kitchen.

It seemed perfectly reasonable until I thought about it.

Anyway! Here’s part of the monkey hat from here. The yarn is really stiff still, so it looks funnier than it should. I’ve had a time and a half with this hat. I made the 6-12 month size first, and it almost fit MY head. Whether this is accurate, I don’t know, I don’t have a toddler’s head to put my hands around. But I started getting paranoid that the mom to be would think that I made her a hat, and that just seemed all sorts of awkward in my imagination. So this is the 3-6 month size, and while it still looks big to me for that age, at least it definitely doesn’t look adult size. I’ll take another picture when I have more of it completed.

All told, I’ve been working on this project for about 6 hours, BUT!!! That’s because I’ve had to re-make the hat base, in part, about 3 times now to get it right. It probably only took me about two hours to do that version of the above, and that’s the majority of the hat. One more ear flap, and two ears, plus the contrasting color and the ties. Assuming I don’t have to re-do any of it, I think that would take me another hour and a half to complete. But subsequent hats would take me substantially less time. Once I know what I’m doing, I can work up stuff pretty fast.
